Pipe
Dream Designs is a family run business
consisting of Derek, Jodi, and our two
young children. We make
handcrafted/handmade metal garden art
and home decor. We create and market our
products during time chiseled out of our
full time jobs, family activities,
travel, community events, and various
other interests. A lot of our products
will not only add beauty to your home,
garden, or office, but help to keep
unwanted material out of the landfills
and scrap yards that aid in polluting
the Earth. We recycle wherever possible.
Our company began with a silly doodle on
a piece of scrap paper. Looking at the
doodle we thought, “Hey, we could make
that out of metal”, “That might be kind
of neat!” Having various tools around
for numerous previous projects, the
capability was there. And so it
began…doodle after doodle turned into
beautifully crafted pieces of art. Our
designs range from fanciful to
functional to elegant.

Derek
has been welding and building things for
most of his life, spurred by parents who
could make nearly anything. If you
wanted something, try to make it first,
that’s just the way it was. His dad
welding and his mom sewing, to finish a
project for the kids, was a pretty
common event.
Jodi’s involvement with the metal arts
is a bit more recent. Starting as a
helper, learning along the way, she now
does her own cutting, welding, and
finishing. The pride of working through
the steps and finishing a piece creates
a great sense of pride and joy.
Our children are eager to help, and love
to do whatever safety will allow. They
often help clean up the shop and provide
design input on projects of interest.
