Learn about Back Country Primitives and meet, Dave Constine, artist and owner!

The mission of Back Country Primitives is, and always will be, to help guide you through every step of the creative process. Back Country Primitives’ artist, Dave Constine, will personally work with you to make sure you get that one of a kind work of art. It's always great to create a custom sign that has special meaning to loved ones. It could be as simple as an old family saying or, in the case of one client, an old Latin phrase to hang in his classroom. If you can dream it, Dave can help make it a reality. At Back Country Primitives, each sign is a unique work of art and no two will ever look the same. Signs are heavily distressed and hand stained for that authentic primitive feel, made to look and feel like they were made over 100 years ago!!!

Dave Constine spent 18 years working in the film/video production business as a photographer and post production supervisor before he launched Back Country Primitives. He has his masters in visual media arts from Emerson College in Boston, MA. A couple years ago, Dave was looking for a very specific antique for his kitchen.... an antique sign from the late 1800's - early 1900's, but he could not find anything he liked. So he started doing mountains of research on antique signs including characteristics of style, aging, discoloration, distressing, design and overall appearance. It's taken time, patience and a lot of wood and paint, but it finally paid off. Dave slowly started making primitive wood signs for family and friends as gifts. Soon he started to get requests from people who saw his primitive wood signs, and in October of 2009 he went full time with Back Country Primitives.
